Save the Last Spliff

 **Save the Last Spliff**

**Verse 1**

The television whispers

To a room that's gone to sleep,

Streetlights paint the ceiling

In a colour cold and deep.

The bills are on the table,

Like little ghosts in rows,

And every passing minute

Is somewhere that nobody goes.

I've been staring at the window

Watching strangers disappear,

Everybody's going somewhere,

I don't know why I'm still here.

**Pre-Chorus**

So turn the lights down slowly,

Let the evening lose its shape,

I've got nowhere I need to be,

And nothing left to chase.

**Chorus**

Save the last spliff for me,

When the night becomes too loud,

Let the smoke become a doorway

Through the noise and through the crowd.

Save the last spliff for me,

Let the colours drift and spin,

Maybe somewhere in the silence

I can find myself again.

**Verse 2**

The ceiling starts to breathe now,

The wallpaper starts to swim,

A distant train is calling

From somewhere on the rim.

Athens is a postcard

Pinned beside my bed,

White walls beneath the sunlight,

Blue skies overhead.

I'm saving every penny

For a place I've never seen,

While dreaming of another world

Behind the television screen.

**Pre-Chorus**

And maybe I don't need to run,

Maybe I don't need to hide,

Maybe there's another way

To take a journey inside.

**Chorus**

Save the last spliff for me,

When the night becomes too loud,

Let the smoke become a doorway

Through the noise and through the crowd.

Save the last spliff for me,

Let the colours drift and spin,

Maybe somewhere in the silence

I can find myself again.

**Bridge**

Don't tell me that tomorrow

Will be better than today,

I've heard that song a thousand times

And watched the years decay.

Just sit beside me quietly,

You don't have to understand,

Sometimes all a broken heart needs

Is another human hand.

**Psychedelic Outro**

The room is turning silver,

The shadows turn to gold,

The clock becomes a carousel,

The future becomes old.

Athens waits beyond the morning,

The sea is somewhere blue,

And for a moment in the darkness

I can almost make it through.

Save the last spliff for me...

Save the last spliff for me...

But when the morning finds me,

I'll put my shoes beside the door,

Maybe I'll step outside again,

Maybe I'll see a little more.

Save the last spliff for me...

Tonight I'm staying here.

Tomorrow is another day,

And tomorrow can come near.

The debts are piling up

 **Verse 1**

The debts are piling up,

The letters through the door,

I count the coins upon the table,

Then I count them once more.

I've got no bud,

Got no hope cos I've got no dope,

The walls are slowly breathing,

And I'm hanging by a thread of hope.

**Chorus**

I'm trying to save up for a trip to Athens,

Dreaming of the sunlight on the stone,

But when the night comes crawling through my window,

I don't want to be here on my own.

So I'll take a trip inside,

Where the colours slowly change,

Ride the waves inside my mind,

Till I find my way again.

**Verse 2**

The ceiling turns to purple,

The shadows start to sway,

I hear the distant traffic

Like an ocean far away.

I've got nowhere to run to,

I've got nowhere left to hide,

So I close my eyes and wander

To another place inside.

**Chorus**

I'm trying to save up for a trip to Athens,

Dreaming of the sunlight on the stone,

But when the night comes crawling through my window,

I don't want to be here on my own.

So I'll take a trip inside,

Where the colours slowly change,

Ride the waves inside my mind,

Till I find my way again.

**Bridge**

Maybe Athens isn't somewhere

You can reach upon a train,

Maybe sometimes getting through the darkness

Is the journey just the same.

And somewhere in the distance

There's a morning I can see,

A little piece of sunlight

Waiting there for me.

**Final Chorus**

I'm trying to save up for a trip to Athens,

Maybe I'll get there someday soon,

Walking through the ancient streets at sunrise,

Underneath a strange and beautiful moon.

I won't take the final trip tonight,

I'll let the restless feeling pass,

I'll take a trip inside my imagination

And wait for morning to arrive at last.

make myself unalive

 Slice my wrists

 jump off the edge

 into a clear lake

 no one around

just suicide make myself unalive

The clear water turns blood-red,

Like something biblical, something foretold.

The trees stand silent on the shore,

While crimson shadows fill the cold.

No angel comes, no trumpet sounds,

No voice descends from heaven above.

Just blood-red water beneath a dying sky,

And the weight of everything I was.

The trees don't answer

The water doesn't speak

I'm disappearing slowly

Somewhere underneath

Alcohol and sleeping pills

voices telling me to take an overdose

Trying to make the voices stop

Another night, another room

Another reason not to talk

I'm better off dead

Or that's what the darkness said

Every thought inside my head

Pulls me somewhere I don't want to go

I will see you in the next life

No one knows what's underneath

The silence that I wear

I laugh when people look at me

But nobody sees despair

 morning  does not changes things

shadows change their shape

 I can't find one reason

To survive another day

I'm better off dead

Those words are in my head

The voices inside my head are commands

And tonight I'll try to stand amd jump off the edge

I will see you in the next life

cotton wool

Wrap me up in cotton wool

and protect me from the world.

I'm delicate and fragile,

and I don't want to go outside,

Keep the curtains closed,

let the morning pass me by,

let the streets remain distant,

let the darkness be my sky.

I don't want the noise,

I don't want the crowds,

I don't want the questions,

or the voices growing loud.

Give me somewhere quiet,

where nothing can go wrong,

where I can disappear

and simply just belong.

Wrap me up a little tighter,

keep the cold away from me,

build a little shelter

where the world cannot reach me.

I am tired of being careful,

tired of trying to be strong,

tired of pretending everything

has never felt so wrong.

So let me stay inside tonight,

where the walls can hold me still,

where I can breathe without the fear

of having to climb another hill.

And if tomorrow calls my name,

perhaps I won't answer then;

perhaps I'll find the strength someday

to open up the door again.

But for now, wrap me up in cotton wool,

and let the outside world go on.

Let me have this little sanctuary

until I feel strong enough for dawn.
